Artist’s Statement

Art can shine a light into life’s shaded places. We expose ourselves through our creations, actions, appearance and beliefs. And yet some things we keep hidden, depending on the context, depending on our company.

Often, when creating art, I find myself stepping into the shoes of others, like characters from a song or the pages of a book. While this can be confronting sometimes, it also offers insight and understanding. My art is also informed by my own story, one filled with many dark memories. Whose story is being interpreted is not always clear, but its not always important.  The light revealed by peering into these shadows is the same.
